My name is Giselle a passionate mother who worked with the Education & Disabilities Sectors for the past 20 years and recognised the demand for specific support and disability services for individuals with various abilities and the dire need for a diverse program in the community in a setting of a social club, which would offer multi-faceted experiences in one place.
Bee Yourself came about totally inspired by my daughter Savannah who is now 22 years old and has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as by many very cherished others I have mentored and taught over the years. I found there was nowhere I could take Savannah to access something like this and so on the Monday 16th September 2019 Bee Yourself was born.
Bee Yourself aims to provide low-cost sessions of high calibre & quality, catering for various abilities which is encouraging and welcoming to all in an inclusive and safe environment.
Our 2-hour sessions focus on combing life and social skills which assist in boosting self-esteem and confidence, promoting a healthy life style by taking care of your whole self inside and out.
At Bee Yourself we begin our sessions promoting the importance of daily exercise with light warm-up exercises, practicing positive mindset activities by engaging all participants in activities such as craft with a purpose where we present craft projects which can easily come together with assistance from support workers and guidance by my self and my team all created items are then able to be given as gifts or kept to decorate their homes.
(Pre Covid19) we were carrying out healthy cooking classes, we supplied all participants with a shopping list and recipe to produce their dish and all had the opportunity to taste and enjoy what they created hopefully these much-loved sessions can return when (WA enters phase 5), interactive games including our own 'Bee Yourself Bingo' for all abilities, we award prizes for all winners for all abilities and wrapping up all of our sessions with Karaoke time which is loved by all, singers can belt out their favourite songs and we also dance along to our friend's songs on the dance floor.
Participants are observed for their participation and displaying growth in their life & social skills in all of our sessions and those who are making great gains are presented with the 'Bees Knees Award' this encourages all participants to practice all of the skills we discuss at Bee Yourself as well as growing their confidence and self esteem.
We are always looking for volunteers at Bee Yourself to help us with providing a high-quality program, this ensures our dreams remain a reality.
We can assist you to find a way to volunteer that best suits you.
Your volunteering for our purpose at Bee Yourself is priceless.
We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of participants like you,
We thank you for all of your support and donations which help make Bee Yourself possible!
